Halion 6 vs kontakt12/19/2023 ![]() Having a rock solid DAW is very important but so many people abuse them. All of this means I dont actually recal seeing my CPU indicator practically move let alone peak out because I have loaded something like Kontakt. No dodgy cracks, no 100's of free VSTs that dont get used. Key words are "what I use": this means I am even very selective about what music software I put on it. You would not surf the internet, write email, play games, or a letter to your Mum on a Mofit so how come people do it on their DAW?! My DAW (dual 2.8 Xeon) has the smallest XP Pro install possible, and NO other software other then what I use for writing tracks. Its something that always amazes me how people abuse their DAW and then complain about performance. I have a 2.2ghz PIV and Im happy with it"Īre you writing this email on your ProTools/Music machine? Hopefully you are not. if you have to buy a better cpu each time an update comes along (update means more cpu usage in most cases). Thats because it doesn't do anything other then play the sample "I like sampletank because its very cpu friendly" i have no idea bout that"įair enough dude. wich means: halion adds something to the sound and kontakt plays the sound as it is without the distortion im not talking bout the filters and all. "i mean that if u dont use filters etc and just listen to the sound wich u´ve imported, halion is warmer and kontakt is pure. You know all these problems could ve been fixed if Jan Sloot wasnt dead! (look it up, google -> "jan sloot sourcecode"). I hate to buy new computers because its worth nada after youve bought it! within a few years a pentium 6 from 20ghz comes along and then Ill get a PIV 4ghz for a few nickles it does everything i need for 3 years now and will do for the next 5 years ![]() I have a 2.2ghz PIV and Im happy with it. I like sampletank because its very cpu friendlyīuy a bigger cpu, you say? no thanks. wich means: halion adds something to the sound and kontakt plays the sound as it is without the distortion I mean that if u dont use filters etc and just listen to the sound wich u´ve imported, halion is warmer and kontakt is pure. When looking into going soft with samplers and selling my Emu Ultra, I did days worth of A/Bing and the Halion natives are bordering on unusable. But do remember that if you take away the Waldorf filters, the remaining Steinburg filters are really aweful. I know Halion has some Waldorf filters so perhap this is warmth you hear. Kontakt's huge array of filter types, effects and modulation abilities make Kontakt a sound designer or sound mangaler's dream. Hmm, this is the first time I have ever heard Kontakt being described as 'clear and pure'. a little different, i think halion sounds warmer than kontakt, kontakt is more clear and pure" Kontakt' feature set is far more advanced than the compitition but particaually these two (no personal feelings here, we are only talking techie bollox.) My point is the Kontakt is the most powerfull (technically) sample on the market today. especially in protools!"Ĭool, but technically these guys are very lightwieght.
